Birth and Early Life[]
171 AC will forever be known as the year Ser Herbert of King’s Landing was born. Born in Flea Bottom as simply “Herbert” to an allegedly virgin mother named Delena (and if you had seen her, you would believe the claims of virginity), he was visited shortly after birth by three wise men who claimed the boy would unite the world, end winter forever, and rid the world of evil once and for all. None of these things have happened yet, but there is still at least a good twenty years before his heart gives out, maybe, so don’t lose hope.
Shortly after Herbert’s birth, his mother Delena began to claim that she was not a virgin after all, and in fact, the father of Herbert was none other than The Black Dragon, Aegon Targaryen, who would later be known for his adventurous promiscuity, and if anyone was willing to sample Delena’s wares, it would likely have been him. There may be some truth to this theory, but nay-sayers have pointed out that Aegon and most Targaryen descendants have Valyrian features, and Herbert’s features are, well… not Valyrian. In fact, he is the opposite of Valyrian. He does, however, share an excess of girth with the infamous Targaryen, so there is that.
